The time is here when we get to taste all the pumpkin spice flavored coffees out there. Target’s Archer Farms Pumpkin Spice coffee pods are very tasty and the decorations on the box are tastefully done as well! I did not just want to throw away the box after using up the coffee so I thought I make it into a simple project since it has a nice fall design. I decided to carefully cut around the box above the pumpkin image and it immediately turned into an organizational piece for my current coupons. Now instead of having the bits of notes and coupons laying on the table I can throw them into this fall themed box and it looks so much better on a table. I will have to try this method with other k-cup boxes as well especially the holiday versions!
For my kids who like to read books at night in bed we installed two of these spice racks by their bed as book holders. It works great and it looks unique when decoupaged with a favorite hand picked napkin design. This spice rack is also great for painting on and decoupaging because the wood’s surface is super absorbent for a DIY project.
All you need is the wooden Ikea spice rack, paint, decoupage glue, napkins and brushes for this project.
My kids love to use tape and when I stumbled across a handy tape dispenser at my local Dollar Tree store I had to get a few for the house. My eight year old daughter’s latest obsession is using rhinestone gems for her crafty projects. I though it would be great to decorate the tape dispenser with the sparkly gems for her room. In an instant her tape holder that was only a dollar became a stylish new desk accessory. She also had the great idea to decorate her switch plate with the gems forming a ‘Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer’ image. The sticky jems are sold in many places inluding Michaels, ToysRUs, Amazon and Ebay.
The Dollar store has plenty of storage boxes for sale. However, in the kitchen section you can find handy container boxes such as these:
Sometimes they even carry these containers in holiday themed designs. I have seen these in Easter and Christmas themed and they look adorable. My mother who lives in Europe always ask me to bring some with me when I visit for her own kitchen because the lids are so good and they are useful for many things around the house. These practical containers are plastic, light weight and the lids close easy but most of all tightly. They can be used for many small items that come in a box from kids toys to craft supplies.
I use it for holding my different dry pasta. As soon as I come home from buying dried pasta I pour them into these containers from the cardboard boxes they come in and voila…I have nicely organized pasta in my kitchen cabinets where I know always how much I have left. Plus, my dried food is definitely more pleasing to the eye than the boxes they originally came from. Stay tooned for more Dollar Tree finds with ideas…
While I was shopping at Target I spotted a huge selection of Tazo tea boxes and I decided to give it a try at home in a variety of ways. I brewed the vanilla caramel flavored tea in a tall mug for 5 minutes and poured it in three different cups to sample each, adding different things to it. I wanted a creamy version of the tea, almost like a latte.
Tea, milk, honey – great taste, the vanilla caramel has a pleasant kick of flavor
Tea, sweetened condensed milk – not great, the tea lost its flavor
Tea, vanilla creamer – not bad, has a strong vanilla flavor and sweet
Overall I liked the tea with the creamer or with honey and milk. However If I had to pick it would be with honey and milk because health wise it would be a better option than with the creamer and the flavor is nice. I am definitely going to try other Tazo tea flavors. I like the fact that they come in a variety of flavors making the traditional black tea interesting.
These branches make pretty fall decoration pieces when cut straight from your trees outside and placed in a vase. It is an eye catcher in any room of the house. It can also be inspiration for an art piece.
My local Dollar Tree store is where I go often for crafty inspiration and ideas, especially when holiday items show up. This day my eyes caught some Christmas themed boxes that resembled little houses. I immediately thought what fun my two girls would have with these if the doors could open for their My Little Pony figures. The other day they constructed Christmas houses from their Legos and these little houses would be such a hit with them all thru the Holiday.
I bought a few boxes and at home I slit the doorway on the boxes carefully with my exact craft knife so they could open and shut. The extra bonus is that the tops are removable and my kids can place little furnitures in them if they choose to.
This project only cost one dollar for each house gift box and it is transformed into a playhouse for toys :).
